Ashuelot, NH - David "Dave" Louis Sheeran, age 68, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2102 in Watkins Glen, NY from an apparent heart attack. Dave was born April 11, 1944 to James Joseph and Marjorie Owen Sheeran in Saratoga Springs, NY. He grew up at 245 Maple Ave with his parents, brother "Bill" and sister Colleen and his maternal grandparents. Dave graduated from Saratoga High in 1963. He served in the US Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam after which he worked at General Electric. He apprenticed with Local 166 IBEW (later merged into Local 236) becoming a journeyman electrician, later adding welding and fiber optics skills to his credentials. Prior to his retirement in 2006, he worked as a field supervisor with Interface Electric, Inc. Dave enjoyed going to auto races and hiking with his children Leigh, Andy and Brandy. As Scoutmaster of Schuylerville, NY Boy Scout Troop 13, Mr. Sheeran shared his love for outdoor adventures. He climbed his first Adirondack high peak, Giant, in 1990 and became #4243 in the Adirondack 46ers with his climb of Cliff in 1997. He earned a NY State Department of Conservation License for guiding, camping and hiking. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 420. Dave was a racing enthusiast. He was a member of Caron Formula Racing (1970's), Sports Car Club of American, Bill Fenton Motor Sports Team and was with Team Fenton in Watkins Glen when he passed. In retirement, Dave "went to work" in his woodshop, hiked, fished and loved attending auto races. He often commented on the pleasure he found quietly sitting and observing nature. Dave enjoyed helping family and friends and if something needed fixing, "Grandpa fixed it". He added reading to his retirement pastimes and loved murder mysteries. Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jane Sheeran of Ashuelot NH, ex-wife Donnah Ballard of Puyallup, Washington, children: John D Sheeran, Las Vegas NV, Leigh K Osterhage, Carmichael CA, Andrew O Sheeran, Schuylerville, NY. Brandy J Speno, Brattleboro VT; grandchildren: Kyle J Osterhage, Aliza J Speno, Kayli M Speno, siblings: William Sheeran, Pittsford NY and Colleen Kingery, Saratoga Springs NY and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents James and Marjorie Sheeran, grandparents William and Flossy Roods Owen and James and Margaret Sheeran. Burial with military honors will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10 AM at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY followed by a Celebration of Life and brunch at the VFW Post 420, 190 Excelsior Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY at 11 AM.
