IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deborah "Debbie"
A. Mangini-Fuller
July 25, 1944 – October 18, 2023
Saratoga Springs, NY – Deborah "Debbie" Mangini-Fuller of Saratoga Springs was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was a graduate of St. Peter's Academy (Saratoga Central Catholic) and went on to attend Mildred Elley. She spent many years working in the Emergency Room at the Saratoga Hospital and finished her career as the Assistant Librarian at Greenfield Elementary.
Debbie, a lifelong Saratogian, born to the late Jennie and Anthony Mangini, was taught at a very young age the importance of family and church. She was also taught to be proud of her Italian heritage. Those three things she carried with her throughout her whole life.
She was a wonderful wife to her late husband, John A. Fuller. Together they built a home and family in Saratoga. Debbie is survived by her son John A. Fuller Jr. (Ariane) and daughter Jennifer Scally (Brian); two grandchildren (Jack and Allison); four siblings, brothers Jack (Vivian), Robert (Sandy), Anthony (Patricia), David (Suzanne); eleven nieces; four nephews and many great nieces and nephews, all of which were treated as if they were her own children.
She was predeceased by her second-born, Michael Fuller and sister Madeline Scarano (Anthony).
Debbie was a loving mother to her children, insuring they were afforded the same opportunity to attend Saratoga Central Catholic as she, her siblings, and her father were. Before her children were born, Debbie was already volunteering her time at the school, working various fundraising events. She did so to make sure the school would still be around for her children and the generations to follow. She continued to volunteer her time at the school once John and Jen attended. The events and activities she had a hand in at the school were numerous; Spaghetti Dinners, Sports Banquets, Cheerleading Coach, and the Spa Bazaar, just to name a few. She never missed any of her children's school events, including sports.
Her commitment to family did not stop at her children. Her love for her two grandchildren, Jack and Allison was immeasurable. She would never miss a chance to visit them, celebrate them, or cheer them on. Debbie never missed one of Allison's softball games. She spent countless hours with Jack panning for gemstones and talking about plants.
Each year, John and Debbie would take the family to Cape Cod for a week-long vacation. The family cherished this time together. After John's passing, Debbie made sure to keep the tradition alive and continued to take the family each year.
If she wasn't with her family, you could find her with her friends, playing cards, quilting, or just getting together to chat.
She took care of everyone in ways that will forever be missed. There was never a birthday without a home-made cake, a Thanksgiving without her whipping up stuffed peppers and Aunt Angie's rolls, or a Christmas without her delicious sugar cookies, which the baking of she made into a family event. There was never a graduation, wedding, or new baby that wasn't commemorated without one of her coveted homemade quilts. She even took up Genealogy and spent an enormous amount of time tracking family history for various family members.
Her love of quilting and volunteering led her to establish the Saratoga Springs Chapter of Project Linus, an organization that distributes blankets to terminally ill, traumatized, or abused children. From her efforts and the quilters she brought together, they donated well over 500 quilts to patients of the Saratoga Hospital Emergency Department.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saratoga Hospital and the Palliative Care Team for their care over the past couple of months. What an amazing group of people. We especially want to thank Mom's nurse, Meaghan, who provided compassion and care for Debbie that went above and beyond. Our family is forever grateful.
