Obituary

Saratoga Springs – Diane Gray Christianson, 74, died peacefully with her family by her side on the evening of July 29, 2021 after fighting a courageous 2 1/2 year battle against metastatic breast cancer.

Diane was born on May 5, 1947 in Elmira, NY to the late Phyllis Sherman and Donald Gray. Following high school, she graduated from the University at Albany as a member of Chi Sigma Theta sorority. After raising her family, Diane wanted a new challenge. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in dental hygiene and worked for Dr. Richard Fountain in Burnt Hills, NY for the next twenty years. She finished her dental hygiene career working for Spa Dental in Ballston Spa, NY. Diane had many passions, she loved sewing, quilting, gardening, and was dedicated to volunteering in many ways to help her community. She spent several years volunteering at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church and with the organization, Global Volunteers, where she taught English as a second language in the countries of Portugal and Italy. Above all, Diane's greatest joy came from laughing with family and friends. "Grammy" was always there to support all five of her grandchildren and was so proud to be involved in their daily lives.

Diane is survived by her husband Theodore "Ted" Christianson, daughters Kimberly Leva and husband Tony and Bridget Patton and husband Michael Patton, grandchildren; Christian and Caroline Leva and Graham, Witt, and Huck Patton. She also leaves behind a loving family of two sisters, Rebecca (Peter) Swatsburg, K. Susan (Dan) Champlain, three brothers, Gene (Stephanie) Gray, Don Jr. (Bonnie) Gray, Gary (Patty) Gray, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10am-12pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 5 th Ave., Saratoga Springs. A funeral service will begin at 12noon.
