Saratoga Springs, NY - Domenica "Mae" (Piroli) DelVecchio, formerly of Joseph Street, passed away Sunday evening, June 5, 2011 at her residence. She was 81. Born on Sept. 22, 1929 in Mechanicville, NY, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Guianelli) Piroli. Employed for over 25 years as a cashier for the Saratoga Springs City school district prior to her retirement, she volunteered as a member of the former St. Peter's Mother's Club and was a member of the Italian Fraternal Society Women's Auxiliary in Mechanicville. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters and her brother, Clementine (Linda) Leone, Carmella Batchelder and Leo Piroli and her husband of over 61 years, Anthony P. Del Vecchio, Sr., whom she married on June 5, 1949 in Mechanicville and who died Jan. 13, 2011. Survivors include three children and their spouses; Anthony P. (Meg Gorman) DelVecchio, Jr., of Mechanicville, NY, Ann Marie (Robert) Peck of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and Kathleen (John) Bonville of Malta, NY; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Katelyn and Justine Jasper, Robert, Travis and Austin Peck, Lawrence and Stacy DeMarco; two great-grandchildren, Annabella Peck and Rosemary DeMarco; two sisters, Nancy Piroli and Anna Arceneaux and her brother-in-law, Eddie Batchelder, all of Mechancville; a sister-in-law, Marylou DelVecchio of Saratoga Springs and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Tuesday (Jun. 7, 2011) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. Burial will follow at the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
