Saratoga Springs - Donald A. Ellis of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 92 surrounded by his loving family.

He graduated from Central Islip High School in 1948. He enlisted in the army and attained rank of Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He married his loving wife Ann (Reidy) Ellis in 1955 and together, they raised 6 children. He worked as an electrician for the New York State Department of Health. Upon retirement, he moved to Saratoga Springs in 1991. Donald was a member of St. Clement's Church. He was a Third Degree Honorary Life member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus, Saratoga Assembly 745 Fourth Degree and their Color Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children and grandchildren's sports and school activities. He was an avid all-around sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his sister Madeline (Ellis) Bolinder, his brother Joseph Ellis and his son Robert Ellis.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ann and his five children, Donald Ellis (Marion), Debora Ellis Kwazneski (Douglas), Cathey Ellis Accettella, (Paul), John Ellis (Candice), Mary Ellis Blomberg (Kenneth). He was admired and adored by his seven grandchildren, Emily Ellis Miller (Andrew), Anne Accettella, Connor Accettella, Clare Blomberg, Allison Accettella (fiancé Tyler) Erin Blomberg and Grace Blomberg. He was a beloved Great Grandpa to his girls, Isabelle and Theresa Miller. He is also survived by his brother Robert Ellis, sister Dorothy (Ellis) Moloney and sister-in laws, Noreen Orelli and Claire Ellis along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). The K of C will meet at 5:30pm Monday at the funeral home for the wake service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday February 1, 2022 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave.

Relatives and friend may call from 4-7pm on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the Moloney Funeral Home, 130 Carleton Ave., Central Islip, NY 11722 (631-234-6000). A prayer vigil service will be celebrated at 6pm.

Burial with military honors will take place 10am on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the family plot in St. John of God Cemetery, 118 Wheeler Road, Central Islip, NY 11722.

For services, the family respectfully requires mask wearing and vaccination against Covid.
