Obituary

Fort Edward, NY - Donald A. Phillips passed away on January 7, 2021 at the age of 75 with his loving family by his side.

Born November 28, 1945 on his family farm on Phillips Road in the town of Stillwater, he is the son of the late Raymond and Jennie Flanders Phillips. Before joining the US Army, where he served bravely in Vietnam, and was decorated with a Purple Heart, he met his wife Gail R. DeCelle.  After his military service, he settled down and became a proud farmer and worked other various jobs. In 1997, his dream came true when he moved to Fort Edward, New York and started a dairy goat farm with his two sons and grandkids by his side. Donald was known for his sense of humor, love of his family, and willingness to help whoever needed it. He never missed his grandchildren's sport games or school events. He enjoyed baking blueberry muffins for his family and if you asked anyone, they would tell you that the love he had for his family was evident. Also, Donald was a member of the American Legion in Argyle, New York.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother Walter (Sonny) Aldrich, sister Josephine Aldrich Roberts and his infant daughter Jennifer Rose Phillips.

Donald is survived by his beautiful family including his loving wife of 54 years, Gail; his five children, Shirley Ann (Gregg) Herkenham, Donald Phillips ll, Raymond (Paula) Phillips, Kristina Phillips, and Jodie Phillips; his nine grandchildren, Thomas Herkenham, Amanda Herkenham, Ryen (Courtney) Phillips, Marissa Phillips, Kaitlin Phillips, Hannah Phillips, Hailee Phillips, Zoey and Parker Phillips and his great grandson, Tripp Raymond Phillips along with six siblings, Elizabeth Hurley, Herbert Phillips, Alice (Stan) Bentley, Hattie Powers, Dorothy (Joe) Young, Ruth Mandigo and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
