Mechanicville, NY - Donald Vendlands, Sr. passed away on October 30, 2022 and was greeted in Heaven by his beloved dog, Mystic. Donald loved Mystic and all dogs. He cherished his family and friends. On Sundays, Donald loved watching football. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. In his free time, he loved automobile repair and spending time with friends at the local barbershop.
Donald was born in Fargo, North Dakota on November 15, 1950. He was the son of Konstantine and Irma Vendlands. Donald loved his country and enlisted in the Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. After he was honorably discharged, Donald became a jack of all trades. First, he worked in a styrofoam factory. Also, he was a bath attendant at the Saratoga State Park BathHouses. Lastly, he was a plumber, and worked in construction.
Donald was predeceased by his wife Suzanne and brothers Harry and Emont Vendlands. He is survived by his children: Donald Jr. (Jennifer) and Wayne. He was the proud grandfather of Dayn, Austin and Parker Vendlands. Donald was the brother of; Maria Giannetti, Regina Notaro, Elizabeth Alferi, and Robert Vendlands. Survived by his former wife and friend Cathy Brooks of SC. Donald is survived by 15 nieces and 10 nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Donald's burial with military honors at 10am on Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
