Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY – Donato "Daniel" Salvatore Natarelli passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side. He was 85.

Born June 29, 1932 in Peekskill, NY, Daniel was the son of the late Gabriel and Francesca Zarba Natarelli.

Daniel proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953-62, leaving as a First Lieutanent.

Daniel worked for the Silicone Division of the General Electric Company for 24 years and was a renowned industry leader and lecturer on managing the processing of plastic and silicone products. He managed the rubber manufacturing operation of silicone products and was instrumental in adapting new processing techniques to improve the quality and lower cost of Heat Cured Silicone Rubber. Daniel also instituted a seven-point quality process that has been widely adapted at GE and major U.S. and international companies. He held many executive positions while at GE, with his final position as the head of World Wide Quality, reporting to the CEO Jack Welch. In 1989, Daniel started Specialty Silicone Products, Inc, (SSP) with four of his colleagues he worked with at GE Silicones. Daniel was the president and CEO of SSP from 1989 to 2001 when he retired, but remained their CEO until his passing. A leader and outstanding member of the local business community, Daniel developed the Corporate Technology Park in Ballston Spa where seven businesses reside today, including SSP. He was a past president of the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, president of the Chief Executive Network of Manufactures and served on the Board of Directors for Advanced Molecular Research Inc.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy M. Dempsey Natarelli; their son, John Natarelli; step-daughter, Christine Ronan; step-grandson, John Michael Currier.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Ronan Natarelli; his children, Gabriel Natarelli, Lynn McDonough and her husband Kevin, daughter-in-law Susan Natarelli-DeAngelis; step-children, Johanna Lupoli and her husband Jim, Bridget Stanners; one sister, Lianora Fratta and her husband Anthony, grandchildren, Gabriel Natarelli and his wife Silvia, Elissa and Christine Natarelli, Maria Natarelli-Pfeiffenberger and her husband Tim, Daniel Natarelli and his girlfriend Marina Shtutman, Marisa Beardsley and her husband Donald, Veronica Branca her fiancé Nick St. John, Alexis Bancroft and her husband Kevin; step-grandchildren, Olivia Lupoli, Thomas Teta and his wife Erin, Alec Stanners and his girlfriend Nadia Viscusi, Christine Stanners; step-grandson, Kevin Michael Wright; great-grandchildren, Liliana and Valentino Natarelli; step-great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Douglas Teta.

Relatives and friend may call Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11am at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave.

Burial with military honors will follow at the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.

Donations can be made to Liberty Foundation, Inc., 43 Liberty Drive, Amsterdam, NY 12010. These donations will be used to build the Community Sensory Playground. This unique playground will provide all who use it with a safe place to play and encourage community integration.
