Obituary

Rochester, NY- Donna Marie Corsale, formerly of Saratoga Springs, passed away Thursday (Dec. 23, 2010) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a courageous nine month struggle with cancer. She was 63. Born on August 16, 1947 in Saratoga Springs, NY, she was the daughter of Nancy Verdoni Corsale and the late Dennis Joseph Corsale of Saratoga Springs. Donna attended Saint Peter's Elementary School and graduated from Saint Peter's High School in the Class of 1965, where she served as Senior Class Vice President. She graduated from SUNY Cobleskill College and in 1969, the State University of New York at Cortland with a degree in elementary education and began her teaching career with the Rochester City School District. She retired from the teaching profession after 33 years of dedicated service and in her retirement years, loved traveling throughout the United States and to overseas destinations. Donna enjoyed volunteer work with the Fresh Air Fund and Ronald McDonald House and was active in the Red Hat Society, the Rochester Teachers' Bowling League, the Rochester Arts Community and spending time with her family and many friends. She followed the sports seasons with the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills and was an ardent race track fan. She was a member of the Professional Honor Society of Women Educators. In addition to her mother, Nancy, survivors include her brother, Dennis James Corsale of Hollywood, FL and longtime dear friend, Sandee Racey of Rochester, NY; her aunts, Marie, Barbara A., Barbara Z. Corsale and Anna Lindau and uncles, Eric Lindau, Eugene and Joseph Corsale and her cousins, Angela Brady, Diane Dobrowolski, all of Saratoga Springs and Anne Corsale of Malta. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Donna in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205. The family wishes to express a very special thank you to the Oncology Team and all of the doctors, nurses and supporting staff that cared for Donna at Strong Memorial Hospital. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Thursday, December 30. 2010, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday at the Church of Saint Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia.
