Saratoga Springs, NY - Dorothy Behringer formerly of Prestwick Chase passed away on Tuesday (Apr. 6, 2010) at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs. She was 88. Born in Buffalo, she had lived in Delmar from 1975 to 1998 and before that in Albany since 1970. At the time of death she lived at Prestwick Chase Retirement Community in Saratoga Springs. She attended the Albright Art School in Buffalo. She received a B. S. in Nursing and M. S. in Administration of Nursing Education from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. She received a Ph.D. in Administration of Education from St. John's University in Jamaica Heights in NY. She was Dean of the College of Nursing at Niagara University for 12 years before coming to Albany to work as an Associate in Nursing Education in the State Education Department, where she was employed for 20 years. She retired in 1990. Locally, she belonged to the Bethlehem Art Association and the Visions Gallery. She had been a communicant of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar. There she served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector and was a team member for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. She had been a member of the Sisters of St. Francis in Williamsville, NY for 25 years. She also belonged to the Secular Franciscan Order where she taught formation classes for 8 years. She also belonged to the Franciscan Missionaries of Jesus Crucified where she taught formation and had been the Local Minister. As of December 1998, she was a communicant of St. Clement's Church in Saratoga Springs. She was the daughter of the late Charles, Sr. and Olive (Stein) Behringer. She was the sister of the late Charles, Jr., the late Richard Behringer and the late Elizabeth Behringer. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Friday (Apr. 9, 2010) in St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the United German and French Cemetery in Cheektowaga, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J.
