Saratoga Lake, NY – Douglas E. Johnson, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born February 28, 1953 in Schenectady, NY, the son of Jean A. (Nasholts) Johnson and the late Louis W. Johnson of Peoria, AZ.

In addition to his mother, Doug is also survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Laura A (Honsinger) Johnson.  Together they shared their love of the water and many evenings watching the beautiful sunsets over Saratoga Lake. He was the father of Britney L. Johnson of Atlanta, GA and Christopher (Susan) Johnson of Rotterdam, NY; brother to Elaine (Edward) Hayes, of Greer, SC and Michael (Susan) Johnson, of Monument, CO.

Doug had a diverse career life, but his passion was for outdoor sports and boating.  He had a soft spot for stray animals, creating a "critter corner" where daily visitors include Percy the Possum and Shirley the Skunk.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6pm Monday, February 27, 2017 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A funeral home service will be conducted at 6pm and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the nurses of Saratoga Hospital who provided comfort and compassion in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the ASPCA or any Humane Society.
