Saratoga Springs, NY - Edith G. Cosgrove, of Church Street, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2012) at the Wesley Health Care Center. She was 94. Born on July 27, 1918 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late James D. and Mildred (Goetchius) Cosgrove. A 1935 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, she was a 1939 graduate of Skidmore College where she received a bachelor's degree in physical education and earned a master of arts in guidance from Teachers College at Columbia University in 1953. A long time educator, she worked as a counselor at Camp Mesacosa at Efner Lake in Corinth, where she remained active for many years. She taught at St. Agnes School until 1942 and was a physical education teacher and guidance counselor for the East Greenbush school system for many years. She was inducted into the Columbia High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a teacher/coach in 2004. She is survived by her Godson, Bob Conners of Portland, OR and his brother Mike Connersof Saratoga Springs as well as one niece. Friends may call from 1:30 to 2:30pm Wednesday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). Services will be conducted at 2:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home and burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
