Edward Patrick Reside, 84, of Saratoga Springs, NY, passed away September 7, 2026 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Lansingburgh, NY, March 14, 1942 to the late Edward J Reside and Vera Heyn Reside.
In Edward’s youth, he had a fascination and passion for airplanes. After graduation, he served in the Air National Guard as a Loadmaster on C97s, C130s, and C5s, 1961-1993, serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. While not in the sky, he was a Certified Safety Professional for several insurance companies. He could spot a broken sprinkler head from a mile away. Edward was a devoted Yankees fan and would tell the best dad jokes. He loved watching musicals and listening to 1940s jazz.
Edward is survived by his wife Elaine Nelson Reside. Edward and Elaine had a wonderful sixty years of marriage. Edward is also survived by his son Steven (Valerie Pabst) and daughter Susan (Joshua Rask). He was known as Papa by his beloved grandchildren, Emma, Shaun, Michael, Andrew, and Emily. Edward was predeceased by his aunt, Sister Mary Francina, RSM (Emily Heyn), his brother Robert, and two sons Scott and Shaun.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Viewing hours will be between 4-7PM at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518-584-5373).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs.
