Saratoga Springs, NY – Edward John Stevens, of 418 Maple Avenue, passed away on August 28, 2023.

Born June 29, 1936 at Saratoga Hospital, he was the son of the late Theron and Anna Stevens.

Ed was a member of scouting, pack 10, troop 10 and explores 10. He earned Life Scout and was tapped into the Order of the Arrow when he was 15 years old. A graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Ed was a member of the student council for 5 years, president his senior year. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Road Runners hot rod club and Brookhaven Golf Club. Ed worked for Saratoga Dairy (Stewarts) for 30 years; owned and operated Excelsior Beverage Inc. for 7 years and then sold his business. Ed was a beloved coach both in Little League on the west side and Pony League on east side of Saratoga. He was a starter and ranger at Airway Meadows Gold Club for 16 years. He loved the game of golf, and also loved to fish with his sons and grandsons.

Along with his parents, Ed is predeceased by his wife Veronica whom in met in 1952 and wed on July 28, 1956; and his two brothers Frank and Theron Jr. He leaves behind two sons Wayne (Kim) and John (Mary); two daughters Jacqueline Azotea (Jim) and Karen Miller (Edward); 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Ed's family would like to thank everyone at Wesley Health Care and Hospice who helped him through his final days.

Relatives and friends may call from 1-3pm, Friday September 8, 2023 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373). A funeral home service will follow at 3pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
