Saratoga Springs Edward A. Weaver, of Meadowbrook Road, passed away Saturday (July 19, 2008) at Ellis Hospital. He was 78. Born on Feb. 11, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Julius and Mary Weaver, resided in Saratoga Springs for the past two years and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He received his undergraduate degree at Purdue University and a Masters degree in chemical engineering at the University of Toledo. He worked as a chemical research scientist for Owens-Illinois in Toledo for many years and as a scientist through and through, he had the curiosity of a child, researching and analyzing everything. Ed had taught physics at St. Ursulas Academy and also coached the girls softball team to a district championship. He enjoyed playing the piano, had built violins and always loved humor in the home. As he was always helping other people, he was in service to his church at St. Clements and sang in the parish and Resurrection Choirs. Ed was a third degree member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus and was a member of the councils golf league. Survivors include his children, Margie Weaver of Minneapolis, MN, Donald L. Weaver of Chicago, IL and Sara Weaver of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Frank Weaver of Tulsa, OK and George Weaver of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Mary Lou Schnurr of Decatur, IN and many extended family members and beloved friends. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday in St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Avenue.
