Obituary

Warrensburg - Edward James Zibro Jr. (Ed) passed away on October 9, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital at the age of 95. Born on August 26, 1929, in Troy, NY, to Edward J. and Helen (Wood) Zibro Sr., he was predeceased by his parents, brother Franklin "Bud", stepmother Margaret (O'Connor) Zibro, and first wife, Madeline E. (DuBois-Zibro) Quinn.

Known for his independence and "Can-Do" spirit, Ed graduated from Catholic High School in 1946 and Siena College in 1950. He and his brothers co-owned E.J. Zibro Tire & Appliance Co. in Troy, Queensbury, NY, and Fort Lauderdale, FL, famously advertising, "It's Zibro, Not Bizro!"

Ed was an accomplished pilot and member of "The Quiet Birdmen Society", a national flying fraternity.  He and first wife Madeline loved Lake George and Ed was passionate about restoring antique wooden boats "Woodies." He was a founding member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society on Lake George, restoring historic boats including "The Lady of the Lake" and "Rebelittal", powered by WWII Aircraft engines. He donated several restorations to the Mystic Harbor Boat Museum in CT.

In March 1980, Ed married Adrienne Rogers Montana and moved to Florida, where he became a commercial real estate broker and later owned and ran a Shell Gas station, car wash and convenient store. Ed and Adrienne enjoyed RV travel and motorcycles, especially his Honda Goldwing. He founded the Warrensburg Bike Rally in 2002, running it for 22 years and attracting thousands of attendees. Ed was proud to say the rally "was free to enter".

Ed is survived by his wife, Adrienne; sister, Angela Joyce Zibro; brother, Don (Maryanne) Zibro; children, Susan (Jim Mooney), Ned (Kathy) Zibro, Sandy (Ian Rowlandson), Gary (Carol) Zibro, Greg (Mary), Tina (Bob Flansburg); step-sons, Bill (Jan) Montana and Chris Montana (Angela); and grandchildren, James Mooney, Bryn-Erinn (Mooney) Oakley, Shae Rowlandson, Andrew Zibro, Anna Zibro, Whitney (Flansburg) Sculli, Robbie, Schuyler and Spencer Flansburg, Nick Zibro, great-grandsons, Elliot and Miles Oakley, step-grandchildren, Sean and Brendan Woods, Theresa Montana, Jacob and Lauren Montana. Also, nephews, Michael Zibro and David Zibro; nieces, Jill Zibro-Warrington, Melissa Zibro-Fisher and Lauren Myers.

The family thanks Dr. Kamal, Dr. Varughese, and the T3 staff at Glens Falls Hospital for their care. No public services will be held. In memory of Ed, take a ride by plane, boat, car, or motorcycle and enjoy the adventure… That would make him smile!
