Saratoga Springs, NY- Dr. Edwin Lambert Hetfield, Jr. PhD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Mineola, NY on February 27, 1952, Ed grew up in Loudonville and Latham, New York and graduated from Shaker High School. His parents were Edwin and Mary Hetfield. He was the oldest of seven children. His siblings include David, Steven, Susan (deceased), Carol, Bonnie and John (wife Michelle).
He earned his BA from Cornell University and his PhD in Comparative Literature from The University of Buffalo. In New York, he taught at Lemoyne College, Syracuse University, and Onondaga Community College. He moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1997 and held faculty positions at Montgomery and Howard Colleges and served as English Department Chair at Baltimore International College, until the college closed in 2012. He retired to Saratoga Springs, NY in 2017.
He was a history buff visiting many National Park Battlefields; enjoyed photography, camping, and hiking; and was an avid dog lover. He was godfather to his nephew Edwin Hetfield and proud uncle to his niece Olivia Hetfield. He will be missed.
