Saratoga Springs, NY - Elaine (Waring) Dunson, formerly of High Rock Ave., passed away Friday evening (Mar. 12, 2010) at the Wesley Health Care Center, Lawrence St. She was 93. Born on Jan. 31, 1917 in Saratoga Springs, she was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Agnes L. (Quinn) Waring, Sr., and a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Class of 1935 . A parishioner of the Church of St. Peter, she was a faithful communicant for many years at the daily 8am Mass. She had worked as a bookkeeper at the former Carroll Auto Sales and later at Erlanger's Fashion Store on Broadway. For many years, she worked in the City Hall offices of the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1979 and was a life member of Court McLaughlin 422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, Harry and G. Philip Waring and four sisters, Beverly Priester, Eleanor R. Waring, Jean E. Driscoll and Audrey Furey and one grandson, Kenneth William Macica. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, William J. Dunson, whom she married on Dec. 26, 1937 in St. Peter's Church; six daughters, Suzanne (William) Farrell of Flower Mound, TX, Linda (Al) Macica of Stillwater, NY, Jill (Douglas) Nichols of Tallahassee, FL, Mary Lou (John) Luckie of Acworth, GA, Carole (Mark) Moreau of Saratoga Springs and Lainie (Ted) Norman of Apollo Beach, FL: 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Janice Delay Waring of Saratoga Springs and brother-in-law, Charles J. Furey, Sr. of Gansevoort and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday (Mar. 16, 2010) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Rev. Neil J. Draves-Arpaia and the Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter's Needy Assoc. (SPNA), 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
