Saratoga Springs, NY - Elaine Murphy, of Patricia lane, passed away on June 3rd, 2021, after battling dementia for many years. She never lost her positive disposition and caring ways. Her kindness and strength of character were nothing less of inspiring to everyone around her. She lived with admirable grace and is missed dearly.
Elaine grew up in Albany, New York and attended school at the Vincentian Institute. She later worked for The Office of General Services before marrying and eventually settling in Saratoga Springs, New York. She spent the majority of her career at Saratoga Central Catholic, where she was a kind and compassionate presence for countless students over the years. You always knew you could walk into Mrs. Murphy's office and be greeted with a smile and a kind word. As
a mother of three and full-time employee, Elaine went back to school to receive her associates degree at Adirondack Community College. She was a member of the St. Clement's Horse Show Committee for years, as well as the Hoopla fundraising committee at Saratoga Central Catholic.
Elaine was an exceptional mother, grandmother and friend. She always came from a place of kindness and compassion towards everyone she met. She enjoyed many years of playing bridge with her friends. She loved her east side neighborhood and the many friends she had there. She enjoyed going to the race track with friends and family and was well known for knitting beautiful gifts for those she loved.
Elaine is predeceased by her parents (John and Florence Heleniak), sister (Joan Fisher), son (Thomas Murphy), and grandson (Thomas John Murphy).
She is survived by her daughter Karen Murphy Hefter (Steven) of Maryland, son James Murphy of Saratoga Springs, all of her grandchildren; Keegan Murphy, Kennedy Murphy, Alicia Alexander, Lauren Alexander, Olivia Hefter, Matthew Hefter; great grandson Levi Isaac Ward; and her brother John Heleniak of Colorado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by Rev. James Ebert. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue, immediately following Mass.
