Greenfield Center Elizabeth E. Gowell died Friday, October 3, 2008 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 81. Born November 12, 1926 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith White Hagadorn. Elizabeth worked as a seamstress at the Van Raalte Knitting Mill in Saratoga Springs as well as Cluett Peabody in Corinth. She was a member of the Quaker Springs United Methodist Church, Old Saratoga Seniors, Quaker Springs Seniors and Greenfield Seniors. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, F.Howard Gowell Sr. and her brother Charles Hagadorn. Survivors include her four children, Jane (Harold) Roberts of Ravena, Shirley (Lee) Crocher of North Carolina, Diane Gowell and Frank H. Gowell Jr., both of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Richard (Judy) Roberts, Mark (Linda) Roberts and Melissa Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Stephen Roberts and Rachel Poe; five sisters, Helen and Jeanette Marshall, Doris (Jay) Schultz, Bessie (Joe) Belanger, Nancy (George) Ody; three brothers, Robert (Beverly) Hagadorn, Keefe (Mary) Hagadorn, David (Joan) Hagadorn and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 12 noon at the Greenfield Center Fire Department #1, South Greenfield Road. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
