Saratoga Springs, NY - Elizabeth (Betty) Louise (Lott) OConnell, 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 18, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Meshoppen, PA. on November 3, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Cecile (Baldwin) Lott. An avid golfer, Betty loved to play with her friends of the Ladies Club at McGregor Country Club. She won numerous championships at McGregor Golf Club over three decades (70s-90s). She was a member of the Northeastern Womens Golf Association and enjoyed playing with her wide circle of golfing buddies. Betty also played the piano and loved to sing. She was a former member of Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and flower gardening, but she was most happy when her warm and welcoming home was filled with the love of family and friends. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking a big meal for a house full of children and grandchildren, which she did many times over the years at her home on Bastian Road in Rochester, NY and later at Tamarack Trail in Saratoga Springs, NY. In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her brothers, Howard, Raymond, and Ralph Lott; her sister, Barbara Krupnick, and infant child, Terrence, as well as other beloved family and friends. Survivors include her devoted husband of 71 years, William (Dempsey) G. OConnell, Sr.; their children, William Jr. and Kathleen Yeager of Indiatlantic, FL, Robert and Kevin (Laura) OConnell of Rochester, NY and Nancy (Richard) Amo of Saratoga Springs along with her 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Minabel) Lott, and many other loving family members and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service from 5 to 7pm Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Unitarian Universalists Congregation of Saratoga Springs, 624 N. Broadway, to share thoughts about Bettys full and happy life.
