IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Ruvolo
Pabst
July 4, 1923 – June 18, 2021
Greenfield Center, NY - Elizabeth Ruvolo Pabst, 97, of Greenfield Center, NY passed away on June 18, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn on July 4, 1923 to the late Philip and Marie Ruvolo. Known as "Betty" or "Nanny," she was a mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Warren R. Pabst, Sr.
Betty was passionate, smart, strong-willed and fiercely loyal. She grew up in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn and met the love of her life, Warren, as a teenager. They married on June 20, 1948 after Warren returned from WWII service. Betty worked as a bank vault manager and as a legal secretary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty was very involved with the St. Anne's Society and St. Pancras Roman Catholic Church, where she was a parishioner. She doted on and cherished her only son, Warren R. Pabst, Jr., and volunteered to run events at his school, St. Pancras. She made costumes for plays and assisted with raising school funds.
Betty enjoyed gardening. She tended to her rose garden at her home in Glendale, even naming roses after her grandchildren. She loved to be in the kitchen and was a wonderful cook, specializing in Italian food, especially lasagna. Her summers were spent in her summer home in Chatham, NY, with her husband and son, and later taking care of her oldest grandchildren, Valerie and Michelle. After several years living in Glendale, Betty moved to Greenfield Center, NY, in 1989 to be closer to her son and her grandchildren. She regularly attended mass at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Greenfield Center and St. Paul's in Rock City Falls. After learning to drive at the age of 75, she participated in Greenfield Seniors and attended activities at the Saratoga Senior Center. In her later years, she lived with her beloved son Warren.
Betty is survived by her son, Warren R. Pabst, Jr.; her three granddaughters Valerie (Steven Reside), Michelle (Mark Kreuzer), and Linda (Shawn Coblish); and her five great-grandchildren, Ariana, Michael, Sienna, Emily and Alice.
