Saratoga Springs, NY – Ellen Marie Phillips passed away on April 13, 2024. Born December 10, 1960 in Schenectady, NY, she was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs.

Today, our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved sister. We will miss her kindness, warmth, love and generosity that impacted the lives of her family, friends and work throughout her life.

Ellen was a 1978 graduate of Saratoga Springs Public School, where she was an honor student and received a regent's diploma. Furthering her education, she earned a Bachelor's degree in social science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

After college, Ellen began her dedicated and compassionate 30 plus year career in helping, caring and improving the lives of the many mentally handicapped residents at the various group homes in Saratoga Springs, operated by Living Resources, Saratoga Bridges, and A.R.C. where she was employed.

Because of Ellen's passion for the ocean and water at an early age, she quickly became an accomplished and remarkable swimmer. When she found the free time outside of her work, you could observe her spending countless hours doing laps around the YMCA pool.

Unfortunately, Ellen's career and most of her active life was shortened after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. This, however did not stop her desire and drive to help people. She found a way to continue making a difference in people's lives by becoming a volunteer at the Hospice Home in Saratoga Springs, for several years.

Ellen is survived by her sister Paula; brother Earl; Aunt Rhea Henne of Hernando, FL; Uncle John Ryan and his wife Karen of Rumson, NJ; and many cousins.

She was predeceased in death by her mother Anita C. Phillips and her father Robert E. Phillips.

Relatives and friends may call from 10-11am, Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Church of St. Peter followed by a Funeral Service at 11am, also at the Church, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
