Crowley, TX - Elsa F. McCarthy age 92, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She passed peacefully in Crowley TX, in her home with her daughter and son-in-law. She was born to the late Francois and Adele Szaro on April 15, 1929 in Patterson, NJ. She graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1948. Elsa married Vincent F. McCarthy in 1955 and the two raised their family in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Elsa spent many years working with the Telephone Company and Wilton Developmental Center as a switchboard operator. Additionally, she worked at Price Chopper for 26 years where she retired at the age of 86. Elsa loved being the "sample lady", as it provided her with the opportunity to meet and converse with a multitude of individuals. She loved people well and was always grateful for the chance to share a new treat and a bright smile. Elsa was extremely well-versed in floriculture and horticulture and had an innate passion for growing and sharing lovely blossoms with her friends and family. Elsa was a Master Gardener with the Cornell Cooperative Extension gardening program. Additionally, she was an active member of the Heritage Garden Club in Saratoga for a number of years and her dedication to her craft was richly displayed in her lush gardens at home. A second favorite hobby of hers was following New York Yankees baseball. She was an avid and enthusiastic fan that rarely ever missed a game!

Elsa had a huge and generous heart; and an incredibly nurturing spirit. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and in turn, she had an immense love for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, as well as her husband of 39 years, Vincent. Elsa is survived by her son, Terry McCarthy and his fiance, Sharon Nichols; daughter, JoAnn Brooks and her husband, Ronald; grandchildren Steven, Sean, Kimberly, Christian (his wife, Felecia), Erin and Randy (Jasmine); and great grandchildren Anthony, Tyler, Isabella and Declan.

All are invited to pay their respects at the graveside funeral service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Peter's Cemetery, 150 West Ave Saratoga Springs, NY.  Additionally, friends are invited to join the family for an informal time of remembrance following the service (address to be given at service).

The family would like to express our thanks for the help, care and dignity given by the Holy Savior Hospice of Bedford, TX in the final days of Elsa's life.
