Obituary

Boyton Beach, FL - Emma Lou Andrews of Saratoga Lake and Boynton Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL. Emma Lou was born on March 29, 1935 in Saratoga Springs, NY to the late Charles J. and Louise (Rice) McGourty. She was also predeceased by her son Terry James Blocksidge; her sister Ilene Martin and her brother Edward McGourty. Survivors include her husband William 'Bud' Andrews; brother Lawrence McGourty; son Russ Michael Blocksidge; daughter Lori A. Lee and her husband Dean Lee; grandchildren Christopher Lee and Lindsey Lee as well as several nieces and nephews. Emma Lou attended St. Peters Catholic School in her youth, graduated and moved on to bartend over the years at several establishments. After retiring from the hospitality sector, she spent her retirement years working for Rickett's laundry in Ballston Spa, NY. She remained with Rickett's for a number of years until finally retiring to Boynton Beach where she permanently resided until her passing. Emma Lou was involved in many communal organizations including a charter member of the Ballston Spa Elks Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a longtime member of the Saratoga Eagles Club. Emma Lou was a parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs as well as St. Marks in Boynton Beach. Hobbies included bowling, bingo, and friends would say she was arguably the biggest Mets fan around. Her only grandchildren, Christopher and Lindsey will deeply miss her warm and nurturing side. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway by the Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, pastor. Burial will follow at 1pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.
