Saratoga Springs, NY - Emma Marie Benevelli Yaeger, 92, of Woodlawn Commons, passed away peacefully in the Saratoga Hospital on January 3, 2013. Emma was attended by her husband, Vincent; daughters Janice Yaeger and Jackie Pardon; and son-in-law, Tod Pardon. She is also survived by her son, Robert Yaeger, of Minneapolis, and grandson, Dexter Guy Pardon. A cousin, Rita Rainone, also remains, as do Benevelli nieces and nephews Lynn, Joan (Bartlett), Tom (and son Graham), Rick (and sons Kyle and Kevin), and Paul (and son John and new grandson, Leo). Emma was born on July 12, 1920 in Stamford, CT to the late Clemente and Felicina Conterno Benevelli. Older siblings included the late Frank, John and Joseph Benevelli. After high school, Emma attended secretarial school. She then worked at radio station WSTC and later, at the Pitney Bowes Postage Meter Co. There she met her future husband Vin and they were married on June 5, 1948. For the next 10 years they lived in Stamford with her mother. During this time Emma's three children were born. Her mother's great support enabled her husband to earn a degree at NYU while continuing work. In 1958, they bought their first and only home, in Stamford. Emma then left work to continue raising their children. When the youngest reached junior high, Emma started temporary work. This led to full-time work at the Union Trust Bank. In 1985, both Emma and Vin retired, after which they took various U.S. tours with their best friends, Helene and Bill Gordon. They also visited back and forth with friends from England and Holland. Their greatest joy, however, was their visit to Emma's relatives in northern Italy followed by a tour of northern and central Italy. Funeral services will be in the spring with burial to follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
