Saratoga Springs, NY- Ernest L Kilinski, 88, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, surrounded by family.
Ernest was born in Amsterdam, New York, on July 15, 1936, to the late Stanley and Bernice Kilinski. He graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1954, then served as a Field Artilleryman in the Army for two years. Ernest was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and deployed to Germany shortly after arriving. After the Army, he married Karen J Doak on May 17, 1958. Ernest and Karen then moved to Oswego, NY, where Ernest attended college at SUNY Oswego and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Education. He then obtained his Master's degree from The College of Saint Rose.
From Oswego, Ernest and his wife moved to Schenectady, NY and then to Ballston Spa, NY where they have now lived for 53 years. He taught at North Colonie, Theordore Roosevelt Junior High School, and then Shenendehowa (Koda) Junior High School, where he taught Wood and Metal shop until his retirement in 1994. Ernest spent his summers as a Driver's Education teacher.
Ernest enjoyed his weekly bowling league, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their many activities. He was an avid New York Yankee baseball fan, Duke Basketball, and Notre Dame Football fan and never missed watching a game! He loved camping, gardening and vacationing in Wells Beach, Maine.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife Karen of 66 years, daughters Laura (Rob) Blunt, and Lisa (John) Fobare, four grandchildren, Cassie and Rachael Blunt, and Derek and Cole Fobare, his sister Diana (Phil) Perkins, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2024 followed by a funeral home service with military honors at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
