Saratoga Springs, NY – Eugene (Pete) Powers Hayden, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving children.

Born on March 13, 1943 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Dr. Robert Sheldon Hayden and Margaret Mary (Powers) Hayden. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United Sates Navy and served aboard the USS Ault. Pete was always very proud of his military service. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for many years for Palmetto Fruit and retired from the Gideon Putnam. He loved to collect old medal cars, assemble model cars and enjoyed many car shows. Pete also love listening to country music.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Rose Marie Hayden.

Survivors include his children Tammy and Aaron Chandler of Porter Corners, SMSgt Eugene and TSgt Megan Hayden of O'Fallon, IL, Thomas and Beth Hayden of Gansevoort and Kimberly Hayden of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren TSgt Andrew and Kacey Hayden of Saltillo, MS, Hunter Chandler of Porter Corners, Brett Hayden of Gansevoort and Mattingly Hayden of O'Fallon, IL; great-grandchildren Saiglyn and Deacon Hayden of Saltillo, MS; his sisters Mary Bob and George Rebello of Franklin, MA and Margaret "Peggy" Hayden McCarty of Crofton, MD; brother-in-law Thomas and Bette Scranton of Port Henry, NY; mother-in-law Beverly Houseworth of Bloomingburg, NY and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Greenfield Fire Dept. and the staff at Saratoga Hospital for the care they provided for our father.

There will be no public calling hours and services will be private at the convenience of the family.
