Saratoga Springs - Evelyn Carlson, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on November 23, 2017.
Evelyn, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Clinton, was born in New York City on April 2, 1924. A graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Charles A. Carlson, for 73 wonderful years. Evelyn and her husband have resided in The Bronx, Clinton Corners, Mount Marion, and West Hurley, all in New York State prior to moving to Saratoga Springs.
Evelyn was known for her expertise as a secretary and administrator. She served as an employee of the Navy and the Army during WWII prior to starting her family. Evelyn loved children and loved her job as secretary to the Principal at the West Hurley Elementary School for 25 years before retiring in 1988. She was loved by all and received many accolades for her contributions. Evelyn and her husband were enthusiastic square dancers and enjoyed many years with the Lefooters Square Dance Club.
Evelyn was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Peter in Saratoga Springs.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Robert, and sister Annette.
Evelyn is survived by Charles Carlson, her husband of 73 years, her sons Carl Carlson of New Hampshire, Russell Carlson (Mary Ann) of South Carolina, Wayne Carlson (Caroline) of Arizona, and her daughters Charlene Mumford (Joe Sikora) and Laurette Loucks (Thomas), both of Ballston Spa. She also leaves her 12 grandchildren, Lisa Carlson of Florida, David Carlson and Robert Carlson of Massachusetts, Eric Mumford of Connecticut, Megan Mumford Klepetar of Saratoga Springs, Scott Mumford of Clifton Park, Tim Mumford of South Carolina, Alyssa Mumford of Albany, Kyle Loucks of Ballston Spa, Justin Loucks of Rochester, Travis Carlson of Arizona, and Christina Carlson of Washington State. Her great grandchildren include Alexander and Zachary Lesko of Florida, Matthew and Juliette Carlson of Massachusetts, Chase Mumford of Clifton Park, and Neil Klepetar of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by her brothers James Clinton of Connecticut and Joseph Clinton of Illinois, and sister Rita of Massachusetts. Evelyn and Charlie have been surrounded by many wonderful friends and loving extended family throughout their lives.
During Evelyn's illness, she was lovingly cared for by her home health assistants Patsy, Darlene, Naomi, Nancy, and Connie, to whom her family owe much gratitude. Most recently, Community Hospice of Saratoga Springs, especially her nurse, Arlene, provided loving care and comfort to Evelyn and her family.
Visitation for family and friends will be at William J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home located at 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs, NY, on Monday, November 27, from 4PM to 6PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the historic Church of Saint Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY, at 10AM on Tuesday, November 28, followed by graveside services at St. Peter's Cemetery, 150 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Those who would prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers may do so to the Church of Saint Peter.
