Obituary

Ezra Frances Hulett, 24, passed away on Monday, June 23rd, 2025 in the Dominican Republic. Born on September 19, 2000 in Albany, New York, he (born Ellen) was the first child to Diane Frances Meyer and Jay Scott Hulett. Ezra is survived by a loving and loved younger brother, Ransom, and devoted mother, with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, and family members.

Ezra was a kind gentle soul that brought smiles and joy to many, and a loving comfort to friends and even strangers. He loved fearless and bold art, humor both razor-sharp and absurd, and all of life's assorted outcasts and misfits. Brillant, funny, and an amazingly talented artist, he shared his creativity and imaginative aesthetic to all who knew him. He was a proud member of the GSRC at the University of Albany, the LGBTQ+ community, and most Albany coffee shops.

With a lifelong love of cats, Ezra was a surrogate parent to many cats in his life. Reprimanded in elementary school by the school counselor for wearing cat ears, Ezra chose to defy this by continuing to wear them and meowing whenever this counselor was nearby. A dear friend of his recently expressed how he was 'a cat at heart, in their own mischievous, playful nature' Ezra will be forever missed by friends and family, and so many others who were touched by his kind, wise, grounded, soft, sweet presence.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11am at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 N Broadway, Saratoga Springs.

In keeping with Ezra's love for cats, attendees are invited to wear leopard, cat ears, or similar attire.

In lieu of flowers, please be kind to everyone in your life that has even a bit of a mental illness.
