Father Pierce J. Kenny C.Ss.R., former associate pastor of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012. Born on Nov. 28, 1943 and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, he attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grammar school and Xaverian High School. He entered St. Mary's College, North East, PA to study for the Redemptorist priesthood and was ordained in June of 1969. Following his ordination at Mt. St. Alphonsus in Esopus, NY, he was dedicated to each parish he was stationed, working with many loving parishioners. Father Pierce's first assignment was in Brazil as a missionary. After spending many years there, he returned to the United States and served in Ephrata, PA, Lima, OH, Saratoga Springs and Brooklyn, NY. He also worked on the Vocation Team of the Redemptorist Order. He was loved by all who met him not only for his great ministries but also for his sense of humor and short sermons. While serving as associate pastor at St. Clement's in Saratoga Springs, he also was faithful Friar of Saratoga Assembly 745 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Beloved brother of Edward (wife, Janet Gavin), Eugenie, Liam (wife Patricia Brown) and Mary Therese Leverich (husband, Bart), he is the cherished nephew of Kathleen Tobin and is also survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins. Relatives and friends called on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 7 to 9pm at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where a Christian Wake Service was conducted at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was con-celebrated Friday morning at 10:30am and interment followed at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
