Saratoga Springs, NY -Florence M. Peters, age of 94, died Wednesday January 16, 2013 after a long battle with congestive heart disease. Florence was born in 1918 in Dickson City, PA to her father Anthony Cienscsyk and her mother Tillie Yarosh. She attended Dickson City schools until the 8th grade at which time she had to quit and go to work so that the family could get by during the great depression. She married Alfred G. Peters and eventually moved to Westchester County in NY. The couple was searching for greater opportunities for their children. Florence started her NY employment washing floors for various neighborhood families. Over time Florence began cooking meals for the families. This evolved into a full-fledged catering business serving Governors, Senators, Cardinals, and Bishops as well as many wealthy Northern Westchester families. After losing her husband in 1979 she moved to Glens Falls to be closer to her children. As she aged she moved to Woodlawn Commons in Saratoga Springs, NY and finally to Embury Apartments. In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband Al, her brother Frank Ciensczyk, her brother Chester Chinsky and her sister Francis Novak. She is survived by her son, Dan Peters of Macedon, NY and her daughter, Romaine Guzi of Argyle, NY as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor at 11am Monday January 21, 2013 at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Interment will be 11am Tuesday January 22, 2013 in the family plot at Bethel Cemetery in Croton-On-Hudson, NY.
