Obituary

Saratoga Springs – Frank Anthony Arpey, Jr. was so representative of his generation.  He loved his family, faith, and country in the purest, kindest way.  He was a proud Italian American who started his life on November 17, 1933, on Beekman Street, the heart of Saratoga Springs' "Dublin" neighborhood.  He made his way from the west side to the east, building a home and a family on Ludlow Street, until he left us on January 4, 2026.

Frank's parents were Genevieve and Frank A. Arpey Sr. He lost his mother at a very young age and was raised by his father and stepmother Betty, along with his grandparents.  He waited his entire life to hug his mother again and we are so grateful that he is doing that now. Frank is also predeceased by beloved wife Alma, as well as his sister Frances and brother Vincent.

Frank and Alma built their life around their children.  He is survived by Jenny, Frank, Andrew and Andrew's wife Michelle.  Frank was blessed by and adored his grandchildren Alyssa (Matthew) Goldberg and Philip Simms, Nicholas and Casey Arpey, Jack (Brian) and Tice Arpey, and his great-grandchildren Daniel and Ava Sabbatino.

Frank graduated from St. Peter's Academy in 1951.  He then proudly served in the United States Airforce before returning to Saratoga Springs to build a career with the U.S. Postal Service.

Frank loved all sports - any sort of ball game!  He was an athlete himself and helped to build the Saratoga American Little League.  He coached his children's teams while also supporting their academic excellence.  He was an active member of St. Clement's parish serving as an usher and volunteer fundraiser.  He also served as a chaplain for the Disabled American Veteran's Association.

Relatives and friends may call from 11am-1pm, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373) followed by a funeral home service at 1pm.

Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.

Frank supported veterans' causes and we suggest remembering him with a donation to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) , https://help.dav.org
