Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Frank Anthony Spensieri, Sr. on Wednesday, October 27 th 2021. He was 92 years old. Frank was born in the small town of Cercepiccola, Italy and moved to upstate New York when he was 6. After graduating from Ballston Spa High School he served 4 years in the Navy before settling in Saratoga Springs, NY. He worked as welder for 35 years before retiring from General Electric in Schenectady, NY.

Frank spent much of his free time enjoying all things outdoors, most frequently in Stoney Creek where he was known ubitquously as Adirondack Frank. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking (especially his award winning chili). His gardening specialty was garlic in which he managed to grow 17 varieties over his lifetime. He was an active member of the Italian-American War Veterans and The Principessa Elena Society, both in Saratoga Springs. In addition to socializing, he felt a special bond with both clubs in honor of his Italian heritage. Finally, over the past few years he loved spending time at the Saratoga Senior Center listening to music, going on trips, and sharing meals.

Frank was predeceased by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary (D 'Agostino) Spensieri, and his adoring daughter, Roberta Spensieri, and his son-in-law Everett Murray. He is survived by his children Janice Murray, John Spensieri and his wife Christina, Frank Spensieri, Jr. and his wife Jill, and Tony Spensieri and his wife Angie. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Spensieri and his wife Carol, his sister Christine Finnegan and her husband Tom, his sister-in-law Alice D'Agostino, and many nieces and nephews. Unquestionably, he was most proud of his grandchildren Lindsey Murray, Bradley Murray, Gianni Spensieri, Benjamin Spensieri, Armani Spensieri, Nina Spensieri, and Samantha Spensieri. He adored each of them and made sure everyone around him knew that.

We would like to extend our sincere thank you to all the staff members at the Saratoga Hospital, St. Peter's Health Partners Hospice, and the Wesley Community Center for taking outstanding care of him over the past few weeks.

Relatives and friends may call from 10am to 11am, Saturday, October 30, 2021 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Burial will immediately follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, we believe our father would love to have memorial donations in Frank's name made to the Saratoga Senior Center ( https://saratogaseniorcenter.org/donate/ ).

Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).
