Saratoga Springs, NY - Frederica Elaine Hilyard (Miller) passed away, November 16, 2021, surrounded by her husband and three children at home in the town of Greenfield, New York, at the age of 83.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 1, 1938, Frederica was raised by her loving parents Ethel Gladys Dietenhofer and Franz Miller with three siblings in Westwood, Massachusetts. She and her husband, Gerald Hilyard, of 60 years are survived by their three children Cynthia Hilyard Burgher of Schuylerville, New York, Carolyn Hilyard-Walker of Alexandria, Virginia, and Mark Hilyard of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and six grandchildren.

Frederica earned her nursing degree from Faulkner Hospital in 1959 and served as a pediatric nurse in Bangor, Maine, where she began her long and happy married life. While Gerald completed graduate school at the University of Maine-Orono, their daughter Cynthia was born. Returning to Massachusetts, daughter Carolyn and son Mark joined the growing family, which eventually settled in the town of Marshfield. The Hilyard's enjoyed 45 years along the shore of southeastern Massachusetts before retiring to Saratoga Springs, NY.

Frederica was happiest with her toes in the sand and watching the ever-changing waves and weather. Yet, Frederica was always ready for adventure and literally sought new horizons. Road trips across the United States took her to many destinations. With Gerald by her side in the front car seat, with and without kids, the couple would explore America and Canada.

Frederica will always be remembered for her bubbling laugh, warm embrace, and good conversation.

Services will be held at a later date in Marshfield, Massachusetts.
