IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick W.
Anderson, Jr.
January 22, 1938 – May 20, 2023
Mechanicville, NY - Frederick W. Anderson, Jr. 85, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 with his family by his side after a valiant two-year battle with cancer. Born January 22, 1938 in Cohoes, New York, he was the son of Frederick W. Anderson, Sr. and Naomi Tallman Anderson. He was a proud 1956 graduate of Cohoes High School.
Given his amicable and genuine nature, he had a successful career in sales for a number of Capital District businesses. He then served as a chemical technician at Organichem in Rensselaer, New York where he retired. Following his retirement, Fred enjoyed transporting cars for Jack Byrne Ford and caring for golf courses at Fairways of Halfmoon and VanPatten Golf Course in Clifton Park. He was a communicant of both St. Luke's on the Hill and Corpus Christi Church and enjoyed the communities there. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Mechanicville.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia (D'Aloia) Calicchia Anderson, as well as a daughter, Naomi Anderson of Schenectady, New York. He is also survived by a nephew, David Meron Jr. of Pensacola, Florida, and his extended family David (Karen) Calicchia, Wells, Maine; Kathleen (Ron) Urbaetis, Mechanicville, New York; and Kristin (David) Marshall, Loudonville, New York. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren who referred to him as "Papa:" Rene' Calicchia, Lauren (Greg) Hodlin, Chloe Riley, Nicole, Adam and Hope Urbaetis, and Avery and Samuel Marshall, as well as great-grandchild, Enzo Cooke. He was also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Marilyn D'Aloia. He was predeceased by his siblings Roy Anderson and Joyce, and his brother-in-law, David Meron Sr.
Fred was a fast friend to all he met. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed being outdoors. He looked forward to hunting and fishing season each year, and loved camping and restoring old cars. He took pride in maintaining his yard and would rest in a hammock after his work was done. He spent many days on his boat exploring Lake George. He and his wife Pat spent 16 years snow birding in Lady Lake, Florida, where they made lifelong friends and traveled along the East Coast.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Fred's name to either the Community Hospice of Saratoga or St. Luke's on the Hill, Mechanicville. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Sgambati Jr. for his tireless care over the years and to the volunteers at Hospice during his final months.
Calling hours will be on Friday, May 26 from 10 am – noon, followed by a funeral mass at St. Luke's on the Hill, Mechanicville, and interment at St. Peter's Cemetery in Stillwater, New York.
