IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick H.
Hosley
October 19, 1953 – December 27, 2024
Mechanicville, NY – Frederick H. Hosley, Jr. passed suddenly on December 27, 2024 after spending a wonderful holiday with family.
Fred was born October 19, 1953 in Troy, NY. He was the son of the late Frederick H. Sr. and A. Elaine Benham Hosley. He worked at Momentive for 40 years. Fred was the Commissioner of Public Safety for the City of Mechanicville and was instrumental in establishing the hometown hero banners that are scene throughout the city. He also helped establishing the beginning of the new splash pad at the Park Avenue playground. Fred was recently inducted in the Mechanicville High School Hall of Fame for his golf career. He enjoyed working with all involved with the first All American Veteran's Parade in Mechanicville, working closely with Amy and John Pickett, April Kiley Turner and Gina Kenyon, just to name a few. Fred spent many years volunteering and working with the Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League and travel teams with his sons and the Lassie League program and years of travel softball with his daughter, Emily. He loved spending time at the Mechanicville Senior Center with many familiar seniors. An avid New York Mets fan, Fred would wait every July 1 to not only celebrate his wedding anniversary but to get that text from good friend Michael Marra. A joke between two friends about the Mets.
Fred is survived by his wife, Rita Batchelder Hosley; daughters, Emily Burns (Thomas) and Jessica Hosley; sons, Thomas McMahon (Kristy), Jason McMahon, Frederick Hosley (Becca); sister, Kathy Fisher (Warren), beloved "Pop" to Jaxen Sherman and Memphis Wolf and "Bop" to Violet and Nora Burns; his beloved aunt, Nancy Piroli and several nieces and nephews.
Fred's family would like to offer a special thank you to his niece, Kara Keller Batchelder who was with her aunt and uncle through the worst time of their lives. Also a thank you to April Kiley Turner, Jeff, Eileen Day and all at City Hall, they became a second family to Fred.
Relatives and friends may call from 4pm to 7pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Ave., Mechanicville. Funeral services and burial will be private.
Fred's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Fred be sent to the Mechanicville Senior Center, 178 North Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118.
