Schaghticoke, NY - Frederick "Squeeky" Stay passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a brief and intense battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma. Squeek was 60 years old. Squeek was a graduate of Hoosick Valley School and Hudson Valley Community College. Friends and family know of his success as a musician in the band Jasper, a drum line teacher with The Mavericks and Green Island Drum Corps. He was currently the owner and proprietor of Fred Stay Contracting, specializing in customized remodeling. Squeek was an avid hunter who always bagged the biggest trophies! He is survived by his three sons, Toby and his wife Joanna of Timewell, Illinois, Taylor and his wife Bev of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Trevor of Ballston Spa; three grandsons, Jesse, Tanner and Easton Stay; his ex-wife Patricia Schell Stay of Ballston Spa. Squeek is a son of Frederick R. and Joy Beecroft Stay of Schaghticoke, NY; brother to John Stay of Oaklyn, NJ and Jeff Stay and his wife Liz of Suwanne, GA; son-in-law to Warren and Mildred DeCelle Schell of Stillwater; uncle to seven nephews and two nieces; long time friend, Beth Nolland of Plattsburg. Squeek always "marched to a different drummer" and in keeping with his wishes, the family will forgo the usual traditions of viewing and burial. He will be cremated and his ashes spread under his favorite tree stand in Illinois. A party celebrating his life will start at 1:00pm Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Eagles Club at Lake Lonely, 373 Crescent Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Bring a lawn chair and a story to share.
