Saratoga Springs, NY - Gerald H. Sevits, formerly of Manhattan, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Washington Rehabilitation Center in Argyle. He was 80. Born in Schenectady, NY on July 18, 1934, he was the son of the late William and Rose (Berkman) Sevits. Gerry was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady and continued his education graduating from Paul Smiths College and the University of Vermont. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 when he received an honorable discharge. Gerry then worked as a Field Representative for the Social Security Administration in New York City. During his years of retirement, Gerald was active in humanitarian causes. Survivors include his brother, Donald Sevits of Saratoga Springs; nephew Jeffrey Sevits of Bloomingdale, NY; cousins Norman Sevits of Loudonville, Stephen Sevits of Schodack and Dr. Steven Feur of Niskayuna. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 10:30am Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
