SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - Geraldine V. "Gidge" Hubbard, 94, passed away at Mary's Haven on Friday, April 19, 2013. Born April 27, 1918, she was the oldest child of the late William and Olive Vaughan, of Saratoga Springs. She attended Saratoga High and Mildred Elley Business School. Her father William was a well-known architect in town who designed some of the most prestigious buildings in the area, including the original Saratoga Hospital. For many years, Gidge and her late husband Frank were the proprietors of Hubbard Chevrolet in St. Johnsville, NY. In addition to being a golf fan, she was an avid bridge player. She played several times a week while she resided at Prestwick Chase Retirement Community from 2009-2013. She was a great lover of animals and groomed dogs professionally for a number of years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Schallehn. She is survived by a nephew William (Barbara) Schallehn of Porter Corners and Sheri Shrade of Sparta, TN; seven great and eight great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the volunteers and staff at Mary's Haven and Community Hospice of Saratoga for all of their compassionate care and kindness. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
