Saratoga Springs, NY- Gertrude "Trudy" Jacobson passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. Born December 22, 1921 in Vienna, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Jeannette Reiss, coming to this country when she was 3 years old, losing most of her family in the Holocaust. Trudy was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx in 1938. At a very young age, she became the primary caregiver for both of her parents and still attended City College in New York City for many years. Trudy married Joseph Jacobson while in NYC on June 24, 1951, and they were married for over 61 years. She worked for the Pope Publishing Company, a drug trade journal in NYC, the United Jewish Appeals, Citibank of New York and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany. Trudy was a past vice president of the Womens B'Nai B'rith, a life member of the Hadassah and a former member of the Saratoga Kennel Club. She also loved animals and travel. In addition to her husband Joseph, Trudy is survived by one daughter Brenda Litke and her husband Wayne of Greenfield Center; one son, Dennis Jacobson and his fiancée Susan Taylor; one grandchild, Jessi Hale and her brother Philip Reiss and his wife Selma. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, at Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave., Saratoga Springs. Burial will follow in the Jewish Community Center Cemetery. The family will sit Shivah at their residence, 3 Gick Road on Thursday evening from 5-8pm, Friday, from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 11-5pm.
