Saratoga Springs, NY - Gertrude Mangona Rodeno, passed away Saturday (Oct. 10, 2009) at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. She was 85. Born on Nov. 25, 1923 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Capone Mangona. Gertrude worked in the laundry department at the Wilton Developmental Center for many years and was a member of the Principessa Elena Society, Court McLaughlin #422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Church of St. Peter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Rodeno, three brothers; Carl, Frank and Santo Mangona and one sister, Virginia Vernoy. Survivors include her brother, John Mangona and his wife Carmel of Saratoga Springs; four sisters, Rose Crawford of Saugerties, Theresa Rose and her husband James of Ballston Spa, Anna Thompson of Mechanicville, Diane Batton and her husband Danny of Hernando, FL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Wednesday (Oct. 14, 2009) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). The CD of A will meet Wednesday at 6:30pm at the funeral home for their service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Thursday at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway by the Rev. John D. Kirwin. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
