Saratoga Springs - Gladys (and twin sister Gertrude) was born in Troy, NY on May 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Edna (Ferguson) Sagendorf of North Greenbush. Gladys passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Our mother Gladys was raised on her grandparents, Lyman Ferguson and Lucinda (Smith) Ferguson's farm in Snyders Lake, North Greenbush, NY. Mom graduated from Averill Park High School in 1943 and soon after graduation married her soldier, our Dad, Arthur Johnson. They lived on the family Homestead in North Greenbush and raised their family, moving to Ballston Spa, NY in 1980.

Mom was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She was known for her pies and potato salad. Mom raised us with a firm hand but loving heart. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of fun.

Gladys retired from Hudson Valley Community College in 1980 after working many years in the financial aid department. After her retirement, Mom and Dad traveled to Hawaii and Guam and visited most of the 48 continental states. Mom and Dad spent their winters in FL for over 25 years.

In addition to her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, our father, Arthur Johnson Sr, her twin sister Gertrude Keville, sisters Amy Boers and Thelma Blackburn and her brother Kenneth Sagendorf. Survivors include her son Arthur Johnson Jr (Barbara) of Pensecola, FL; Diana Bisnett (Tom) of Ballston Spa, NY; Kathie Wait (Ed) of Rock City Falls, NY; 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who loving referred to her as "Great Johnson".

Our seamless journey with our Mom at the Wesley Health Care Center, the Victoria Wing, second floor, would not have been possible without the loving, fun and caring staff that took care of her, and at times us, during her stay there. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Calling hours are 10 to 11am Monday, April 10, 2017 at the William J Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373) to be followed by a funeral service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at 12 noon at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.
