Saratoga Springs - Guy S. "Blondie" Hawthorne Jr. of Van Dorn Street, died Thursday April 11, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 93. Born on October 30, 1919 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Guy S. and Susie Ferguson Hawthorne, Sr., and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. "Blondie" worked as a maintenance mechanic for Angelica Health Care and Rickette's Dry Cleaners in Ballston Spa and at Thompson Cleaners in Saratoga Springs. He was a communicant of the Church of St. Peter. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Catherine M. Comiskey Hawthorne, who died May 12, 2006; two brothers, John and Robert Hawthorne and one sister, Jane Fuller. Survivors include seven children; Guy T. Hawthorne of Saratoga Springs, Catherine Topley and her husband, Daniel of Mt Pleasant, PA, Mary Jane McNamara and her husband, Thomas of Ballston Spa, John D. Hawthorne of Saratoga Springs, Michael E. Hawthorne of Vancouver, WA, Robert Hawthorne and his wife, Jean of Rexford and Gerard Hawthorne and his wife, Brenda of Saratoga Springs; ten grandchildren, Michael McNamara and his wife, Mary, Matthew McNamara and his wife, Margaret and Daniel McNamara and his wife, Lynn, Katie, Daniel, Shane, Travis and Nicole Hawthorne, David Garrett and his wife Joanna, Danyelle Garrett; eight great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Thomas and Ann McNamara, Amelia and Sara McNamara, Tessa, Torri and Laney Garrett; two sisters, Helen Smead and Doris Hawthorne; two sisters-in-law, Jane and Grace Hawthorne; one brother-in-law, Ernie Fuller and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am Saturday April 13, 2013 in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Very Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
