Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Harold E. "Whitey" Plue, of White Street, passed away peacefully on Monday (Feb. 22, 2010) at the residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81. Born on April 16, 1928 in Schenectady, NY, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Clara Plue. Harold served as a sergeant with the 1916th AACS Squadron in the US Air Force stationed in Alaska and was honorably discharged in 1949. A master carpenter, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Saratoga Aerie 2586 and the Moose Lodge. Whitey was a sportsman with a love for fishing, hunting, camping and he enjoyed dancing and rocking in his chair to classic country music. He loved his garden and spent afternoons reading western books, scratching off lottery tickets and drinking chocolate shakes. A strong man who worked hard, he will be greatly missed by many. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, David, Walley, LeRoy and Richard Plue. Survivors include his wife and soul mate of 60 years, Sally (Spoor) Plue; his son, Roswell Plue; his daughters, Bonnie and husband, John Brooks and Lori and husband James Garceau; his grandchildren, Pattie Plue, Lisa and husband Greg, David and wife, Melissa Brooks, Jason Brooks, Jake, Jennifer and husband, John Bardin, Jimmy, Mat and Christopher Garceau and many, many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements and services are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway (584-5373).
