Albany, NY- Hazel Irene Carey, 84 residing in the "corner house" in Saratoga Springs, NY passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022, at Albany Medical Center with her loved ones by her side.

Hazel was born December 26, 1937, in Syracuse, NY to the late Martin and Dorothea Doan. She graduated from Elbridge Central School in 1955. She worked at John Hancock Life Insurance in Syracuse where she met her late husband, Jack. Hazel took great pride in her accomplishments as a homemaker, a caretaker and raising her second family, Jenifer, Mathew, Jason and Meaghan. She worked many years for families in Saratoga providing her expert cleaning services, one special place was the Batcheller Mansion. She dedicated herself to the Saratoga Springs Historical Society and the Annual Antique Shows that were held there. She was a lifetime member and Past President of the Saratoga Wilton Elks Lodge #161.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" Carey, infant son Kevin Michael and sister Martha Patterson. She is survived by her three children, John and his wife Kristy, daughters Ann and Mary, as well as her two grandchildren Erin and Sean Carey who held a special place in her heart, and her cat Chloe. Her sister Roslyn (late Edwin) Dixon of Jackson Center, PA, brother Richard (Cindy) Doan, Kirkville, NY as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses on Floor 8C (Cardiothoracic Unit) and doctors at the Albany Medical Center for the care she received.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A funeral home service will follow at 1:00 pm with burial at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.

Everyone is invited back to the Principessa Elena Society, 13 Oak Street for a celebration of life.
