Saratoga Springs, NY - Helen (Rowland) Price, a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Wesley Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving daughter and cherished friend. She was 89.
Born on May 23, 1927 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Dr. John F. and Katherine (Jordan) Rowland and was a graduate of Mount Aloysius Jr. College in Cresson, Pennsylvania. She was the bank secretary for the original Saratoga National Bank on Broadway and continued working there until the birth of her daughter. A devout Catholic all her life, she was a member and communicant of St. Clement's Parish.
Helen was extremely proud to be an active member of the Ladies of Charity Saratoga Vicariate. She joined the Ladies as a volunteer in 1992 and became a board member in 1995 and assumed the role as Volunteer Placement Coordinator for 25 years. Further, she was recognized as a lifetime member in 2011.
A loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed. There was a special bond that was shared with her daughter. In addition to her parents, Helen is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward W. Price and her sister, Ruth Rowland Pasternak.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Kathryn A. Price of Saratoga Springs, brother John F. Rowland, Jr. and his wife Maureen, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff that took such wonderful care of her on 4 Victoria at Wesley. They all treated her with so much love and attention and remain part of her extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday (April 18) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, April 19 in St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Avenue. Burial will follow at the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
Members of the Ladies of Charity will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5pm at the Burke Funeral Home for services.
