Ballston Spa, NY – Helen G. Steele, age 86, passed away Thursday evening (December 15, 2016). She was born May 7, 1930 in Troy, NY and married in 1954, to the love of her life, Leon Wallace Steele. Together they had four children.

Helen helped many people throughout her life that looked up to her. She loved her crime TV series, camping, and her family always came first. Helen was a strong woman, right up to the very end. She will be loved and missed by many.

Survivors include her sister Beverly (Smith) Coffey of Latham, NY; her brother, Sonny Smith of Nashville, TN and three living children, Lee & Alice Steele of Ballston Spa, NY; Helen Trachsler of Daphne, AL and John & Heather of Victory Mills, NY; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, one step-great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Earl & Helen Smith; her father & mother-in-law, William Fredrick & Eva Belle Steele, her son, Earl Steele and her sisters, Doris VanSchaik and Margaret Tuller.

Relatives and friends may call from 10am to 12pm Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing &Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). Funeral services will be at 12noon at the funeral home and burial will follow at 1:30pm at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
