Howard Arnold
Hirsch
August 27, 1935 – January 20, 2021
Saratoga Springs, NY - On January 20, the world lost a "real mensch" with the passing of Howard Arnold Hirsch. Born in Brooklyn, New York Howard was a part of an era where good values, family life, love of sports and love of religion permeated his childhood and followed him for the rest of his days.
He joined the army after college and played basketball for his troop while stationed in Whittier, Alaska. His career in retailing spanned over 60 years on the corporate level. His religious life ran deep and wide. In 1973, he founded Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park, New York. He was a part of and on the board of many synagogues including Romemu in New York City, Temple Ner Tamid in New Jersey, Chabad in Chautauqua, and Shaara Tfille in Saratoga Springs. Howard was a man of unique character. He believed it was his responsibility to help make this a better world and his actions followed suit.
Howard is survived by his adoring wife Dede, son Benjamin, daughters Dara and Roberta (Robert Shea), 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Howard was predeceased by his daughter Lori. They are together now.
