Obituary

Providence - Howard W. Nolan passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at Wesley Health Care Center. He was 94. Born on Aug. 31, 1915 in Ballston Spa, NY, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Fortin Nolan. He lived in Saratoga Springs most of his life before moving to the town of Providence in 1990. Howard ran Nolan's Newsroom on Lake Ave. from 1935 to 1941. He worked for VanRaalte & Co. in Saratoga Springs as a knitter for 56 years. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Maris "Betty" Smith Nolan who passed away in 1966. Survivors include his daughter, Carol (Robert) Polewchak of Owings, MD; two grandsons, Tom Polewchak of Denver, CO, Robert (Pam) Polewchak and two great granddaughters Abigail and Maia of Youngstown, OH, and his long time friend Mary J. Packer of Barkersville. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J.
